ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — Drivers in St. Petersburg should plan for slower trips this week as road crews close lanes on several of the city’s busiest routes, from 4th Street North to the Pinellas Bayway, starting Sunday, Oct. 25.
On 4th Street North, also known as State Road 687, lanes will close between Gandy Boulevard and Interstate 275 during daytime hours, 7 a.m. until 5 p.m., all week. Crews will work the same daytime hours Monday through Friday on the Pinellas Bayway, State Road 682, near Dolphin Cay Lane and Landings Drive and on the stretch leading to the Bayway toll plaza.
Gandy Boulevard at I-275 will lose lanes overnight starting at 8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 29, with the road expected to reopen fully by 5:30 a.m. Friday.
Longer-running work continues on the south side of the city. On 62nd Avenue South, the Maximo bridge remains down to a single lane in both directions around the clock, with a temporary signal taking turns between eastbound and westbound drivers. The City of St. Petersburg is replacing that bridge with help from the Florida Department of Transportation. The new span will have two travel lanes and a raised sidewalk, and work is expected to wrap up in early 2027. The job is being built in two phases so that one lane can stay open the entire time.
Drivers on 62nd Avenue North will also find one lane missing each way where the road passes beneath I-275, a closure expected to last until roughly December.
Elsewhere in Pinellas County, overnight closures are set for US 19 between Main Street and Curlew Road and for Court Street at Ewing Avenue in Clearwater. Drivers should allow extra time and follow posted signs in work zones.
