CHICAGO — Bronchial asthma killed All Elite Wrestling star Benjamin Satterley, the performer fans knew as Pac, the Cook County Medical Examiner announced Friday, classifying the death as natural.
Satterley was 40. He was discovered unresponsive inside a parked vehicle in suburban Des Plaines on Sept. 27, a day after he competed for a title on the AEW All Out pay-per-view. First responders tried to revive him, but he was declared dead at the scene, and an autopsy followed the next day.
Police noted no injuries or suspicious marks. Records from his phone indicated he was headed to the airport when he died.
Born in England, Satterley built his name on the British independent circuit before stops in Japan and the United States. He wrestled in WWE as Neville from 2012 to 2017, becoming one of its top cruiserweights, then signed with AEW in January 2019 and stayed there the rest of his career.
At AEW he held several championships, wrestled as The Bastard and ran with factions including the Death Riders, known for a hard-hitting style and high-flying moves. The promotion devoted its weekly show to a tribute in the days after his death.
