Get Involved: Tampa Bay Area Organizations Welcome Volunteers!

Hey there, Tampa Bay! Are you looking to make a meaningful impact in your community while having a great time? Well, look no further because there are plenty of opportunities for you to roll up your sleeves and lend a hand. Local organizations are on the hunt for volunteers, and they’re counting on community members like you to help out!

Join the Fun with YMCA of Greater St. Petersburg

The YMCA of Greater St. Petersburg is looking for enthusiastic individuals to fill the role of summer camp counselors across its various branches, including Jim & Heather Gills YMCA and Speer YMCA. If you are 18 years or older and have a flexible schedule, then this paid position could be right up your alley!

If being a counselor isn’t quite your thing, don’t worry! The YMCA also needs summer camp assistants—these volunteers will be helping with a wide range of fun activities, from arts and crafts to STEM projects, group games, and team-building exercises. You just need to be at least 16 years old to participate. Summer camp typically runs on weekdays from June to August, making it a perfect opportunity for students or anyone else looking for a way to get involved during the summer months.

Make a Splash: Lifeguards Wanted!

The YMCA isn’t just looking for camp counselors and assistants; they’re also recruiting lifeguards at various locations. Don’t worry if you’re not already certified—the YMCA offers training to help you get certified. They are looking for lifeguards with flexible hours to cover early morning and afternoon shifts.

Help Clean Up Our Community

Keep Pinellas Beautiful along with the City of St. Petersburg and City of Gulfport. The cleanup will take place at Trolley Market Square in Gulfport, and it’s a fantastic opportunity to help beautify our area. Just remember to wear closed-toe shoes, bring sun protection, and wear clothing that’s appropriate for the weather. Supplies will be provided, so all you have to do is show up and help out!

Capture Smiles for the Heart Gallery

Another wonderful opportunity awaits at the Heart Gallery of Pinellas and Pasco. They are in search of volunteer photographers to take portraits of local children in foster care who are looking for adoptive families. This organization has successfully helped over 400 children find homes since it began back in 2006. Your photography skills could make a world of difference to these kids and help connect them with loving families.

Volunteers Needed for Empath Health

Last but not least, Empath Health, the largest non-profit hospice and home care-based healthcare organization in the U.S., is seeking volunteers for various roles. This is a great chance to support bereavement care and help out at resale stores, offering your time and talents to a worthy cause. By volunteering with Empath Health, you can contribute to compassionate care within the community.

Be a Part of Something Bigger

The call to volunteer is a chance for community members to engage, empower, and show compassion. If you’re part of an organization that needs volunteers, donations, or to spread the word about your cause, remember that you can submit your opportunities for promotion through local initiatives designed to connect community members with those in need.

So, why not take the leap and get involved? Your time and talents can create ripples of change in your community. Let’s make Tampa Bay a better place together!
