Vendors and visitors at the Treehouse Farmers Market at Euclid Church in St. Petersburg.

News Summary

St. Petersburg will host its inaugural Treehouse Farmers Market on May 4 and May 25 at the historic Euclid Church. With proceeds supporting the church’s restoration, the event will feature over 20 vendors and aims to create a lively community space. Organizers Irene and Noam Krasniansky have invested $1.6 million into restoration efforts, promoting the church’s mission and fostering community engagement through recurring events.

St. Petersburg is set to welcome its first Treehouse Farmers Market on May 4 and May 25, from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. The event will take place at the historic Euclid Church, located at 921 10th Ave. N. Proceeds from the market will contribute to the restoration of the church, which has significant historical value for the community.

The market promises to feature over 20 vendors, although not all have confirmed their participation yet. The goal of the Treehouse Farmers Market is to create a vibrant community space while simultaneously raising funds for the ongoing restoration of the church. The organizers, Irene and Noam Krasniansky, purchased the church property 20 months ago and have already invested $1.6 million in restoration efforts.

The couple initially proposed to convert the church into an event venue and bed-and-breakfast, but the City Council denied their request. Rather than abandon their vision, they pivoted to focus on restoring the church to its original mission. They plan to use the grounds for recurring farmers markets and other community events.

Restoration Efforts and Community Goals

The restoration process has already made significant headway. The church’s facade has been meticulously restored, internal damage repaired, and several beautiful architectural elements have been uncovered as part of the renovation work. Amid these efforts, Irene Krasniansky has personally engaged in restoring details, such as scraping paint from the grand front doors to reveal hidden brass beneath.

Despite their initial disappointment regarding the City Council’s decision, Noam Krasniansky remains optimistic about reviving the church’s role as a community hub. The couple envisions the Treehouse as a lively space that could host weddings, community coffee events, and various gatherings, reintroducing a sense of community ownership to the historic site.

Upcoming Highlight and Future Plans

The church, which will celebrate its 99th anniversary on Thanksgiving Day in 2025, is central to the community’s history. The Krasnianskys hope to hold an official ribbon-cutting ceremony on that milestone date, allowing the public to explore the church’s interior for the first time in decades. This event would mark a significant turning point in the church’s history and its future connection with the community.

Through community involvement and support, the Krasnianskys aim to infuse the church with “light, love, and laughter.” Their commitment to restoring not just the physical space but also the community’s spirit defines their vision for the Treehouse Farmers Market and beyond. For residents of St. Petersburg, this new market represents more than just local produce and goods; it is a step toward revitalizing an important piece of their heritage.
