Tragic Incident at Devil's Den State Park
A peaceful outing at Devil’s Den State Park turned tragic as a double homicide occurred, claiming the lives of Clinton and Cristen Brink while their daughters were unharmed. Authorities are conducting a manhunt for the suspect, described as a white male seen fleeing in a black sedan. The local community is in shock, and park officials have closed trails as investigations continue. Safety reminders have been issued for visitors amidst this unsettling event.
The peaceful trails of Devil’s Den State Park turned into a scene of heartbreak on Saturday afternoon as a tragic double homicide occurred, claiming the lives of a beloved couple. Authorities have identified the victims as Clinton David Brink, 43, and Cristen Amanda Brink, 41, who were out hiking with their two young daughters, aged 7 and 9.
The Brink family was enjoying a typical day of exploration and adventure at the park when disaster struck. Reports indicate that the couple was found on a walking trail shortly before 3 p.m., leaving their daughters safe but shaken, who were with family members afterward. The Brinks had only recently moved to Prairie Grove, Arkansas, and were surely looking forward to many outdoor family memories in their new surroundings.
In the wake of this horrific event, authorities sprang into action, beginning a manhunt for the suspected attacker. The suspect is described as a white male with a medium build, last seen wearing a long-sleeved shirt with the sleeves rolled up, dark pants, a dark baseball cap, sunglasses, and fingerless gloves. He also had a black backpack in his possession when the crime occurred.
Witnesses reported seeing the suspect driving a black, four-door sedan, possibly a Mazda, with tape over the license plate. It is believed he was heading away from the park on either State Route 170 or State Route 220.
As a precaution, park officials quickly closed all walking trails at Devil’s Den State Park, although the pool and picnic areas are still open for visitors. The Arkansas State Police have already conducted their investigation work at the scene and are seeking additional information from anyone who may have been in the area at the time.
The news of the double homicide sent shockwaves through the local community. Governor Sarah Sanders expressed her heartfelt sorrow, emphasizing that law enforcement will work tirelessly until the suspect is brought to justice. Meanwhile, visitors to the park are being urged to share any images or information that could provide clues about the suspect’s whereabouts.
The Arkansas State Crime Lab is currently working to determine the cause and manner of death for the victims. Investigators are also on the hunt for video evidence from the park on the day of the crime to piece together the events leading up to this tragedy. Although the daughters were reportedly not witnesses to the shocking event, confirming details around their experience is still needed.
Authorities are appealing to the public for any tips or leads that could assist in the investigation. Anyone with information or potential images of the suspect is encouraged to contact the Arkansas State Police Troop L at (479) 751-6663. The FBI in Little Rock is also on standby to lend support, should it be required during this ongoing investigation.
As the investigation unfolds, important reminders about safety in remote areas are being reiterated. The thick vegetation and rugged terrain of the park can make such incidents particularly alarming and underscores the need for vigilance while enjoying nature’s beauty.
With a community holding its breath for answers, the tragic loss of the Brink family serves as a reminder of the unpredictable nature of life and the importance of safety while we make memories outdoors.
