St. Petersburg – Two separate shooting incidents in St. Petersburg have left two individuals injured, with one in critical condition as authorities continue their investigations into the events.
The first shooting took place on Monday night outside a residence on 15th Avenue South. A man and a woman were injured during this incident. Fortunately, both victims sustained non-life-threatening injuries and were promptly attended to by emergency responders. However, further details surrounding this shooting remain scarce, and the investigation is still ongoing.
Just a day later, on Tuesday evening, another shooting occurred near 1244 9th Avenue South. Law enforcement officers discovered a 39-year-old man lying in the street beside his car, suffering from life-threatening injuries. This victim was swiftly transported to a local hospital for urgent medical care. As with the previous incident, St. Petersburg police have not provided any additional information regarding the circumstances leading up to this shooting. The investigation into this case is also active.
The recent spate of violence comes in the wake of a previous incident in Clearwater on July 23, 2025. In that case, a 15-year-old boy named Ahmad Albayati was shot and subsequently pronounced dead at a hospital. Albayati had been found lying in the street with a gunshot wound. The alleged shooter, identified as 19-year-old James Acosta from St. Petersburg, reportedly shot Albayati after a conversation about a firearm purchase escalated. Allegations suggest that when Albayati reached into his jacket during the discussion, Acosta responded by firing the weapon. After fleeing the scene, Acosta was later apprehended and charged with Murder in the Third Degree, among other offenses. Notably, surveillance footage indicated that Albayati approached Acosta’s vehicle shortly before the shooting occurred.
The authorities are urging the public to come forward with any information that may assist in the ongoing investigations. As of now, the local police department has not reported any arrests related to the current shooting incidents. Both cases have heightened community concerns regarding safety and gun violence in the area.
Residents are advised to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to law enforcement. Meanwhile, the police are diligently working to piece together the details of these two recent shootings to ensure justice is served and community safety is prioritized.
This situation is still developing, and updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
