An artistic rendering of the future St. Petersburg landscape with the new construction project.
A $200 million construction project in St. Petersburg, known as The Central, is set to bring 540 new parking spaces along with a Marriott hotel, office tower, and affordable apartments. Planned for completion by 2027, this development aims to enhance the city’s infrastructure and community living while boosting tourism. Key features include a monument honoring local history and an open-air amenity deck with green spaces.
St. Petersburg is buzzing with anticipation as a massive $200 million construction project is set to transform the skyline and infrastructure of this vibrant city. This major initiative will bring about 540 new parking spaces and offer a range of amenities that residents and tourists alike can look forward to.
This ambitious project, known as The Central, is part of the beloved EDGE District in St. Petersburg. It marks the beginning of a new era for the city, which has long felt the pressure of a growing downtown. The Central will include a luxurious 15-story Marriott Autograph Collection Hotel, a sleek 12-story office tower named Halcyon, and of course, the crucial parking garage. Construction for the parking facility is expected to kick off as early as March or April 2024.
The Central’s grand narrative began its planning phase back in 2019 under previous leadership, aiming to replace the site that once housed the St. Petersburg Police Department with something that truly enriches the community.
The city’s current mayor has stressed the significant impact this parking garage will have on improving the streets of St. Petersburg, addressing the pressing need for more parking options as the downtown area continues to flourish. Imagine being able to stroll through the city with the peace of mind that a parking space is readily available!
In addition to the essential parking, the Halcyon will herald the arrival of St. Petersburg’s first Class A office space since the late 1980s. This not only increases the options for local businesses but also enhances the city’s ability to attract new companies looking for a thriving place to set up shop.
