St. Petersburg is set to celebrate its LGBTQ+ community with the return of St. Pete Pride in June 2025. Marking the 20th anniversary of the event, a month-long series of festivities is planned to promote inclusivity and celebrate diversity.
The opening event will kick off on June 1 with a free street party in the Grand Central District, running from 7:00 PM to 10:00 PM. This area is known as the birthplace of Pride in St. Petersburg, making it a historically significant location for the festivities.
Following the street party, various scheduled events will include the fifth annual Youth and Family Day on June 7, taking place at North Straub Park from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM. This family-oriented day will feature performances and activities such as drag queen storytime and art events aimed at engaging younger attendees and their families.
On June 18, Transtastic, an event celebrating the Trans and Non-Binary community, will occur at The James Museum. This gathering will take place from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM, with ticket prices ranging from $10 to $40.
The highlight of St. Pete Pride will occur on June 28, when downtown waterfront transforms into Florida’s largest Pride festival from 2:00 PM to 10:00 PM. The event is expected to attract a massive crowd, featuring a vibrant parade and more than 100 booths from vendors and artists showcasing unique offerings.
The festivities will conclude on June 29 with the grand finale, the Sunday Street Fair, set for 12:00 PM to 5:00 PM at 2355 Central Avenue. Organizers anticipate over 100,000 attendees, with a series of entertainment options and local businesses participating throughout the multiple-block event.
St. Pete Pride is recognized as one of the largest annual events in St. Petersburg, fostering community spirit and supporting local LGBT-owned businesses. In addition to the events in June, another celebration known as “Shades of Pride” commenced on May 2, focusing on Black queer joy through performances and discussions.
In a move to further enhance celebrations of the LGBTQ+ community, organizers have announced a new biannual event called Winter Pride, scheduled for February 16-23. This addition will further solidify St. Petersburg’s commitment to celebrating diversity and inclusivity throughout the year.
The Grand Central District has established itself as a vibrant “gayborhood,” filled with an array of LGBT-owned businesses that enrich the community’s character. Event organizers are dedicated to ensuring all activities align with the mission of supporting and championing the rights of the LGBTQIA+ community, emphasizing unity and pride during this celebratory month.
