Nancy Lacore issued a memo that canceled several Navy Reserve force policies, including those concerning harassment and diversity.
In a rather bold statement, General Eric Smith of the Marine Corps made it clear there were no Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) programs within his branch, suggesting the focus would shift back to a more traditional, merit-based approach. As if pulling a curtain over the entire initiative!
Further complicating matters, the Air Force and Space Force disbanded their Barrier Analysis Working Groups, which were aimed at identifying obstacles faced by diverse service members. A memo from the Air Force instructed the removal of all DEIA-related media and training, indicating a broader trend within military ranks to strip down these diversity-focused efforts.
The Department of Veterans Affairs jumped into the fray with remarkable speed, closing diversity offices and placing around 60 employees on paid leave as they streamlined operations following Trump’s order. Clearly, the gears are turning quickly in response to this new directive, sending the message that compliance is a top priority.
