Reports started rolling in at approximately 1:17 a.m. when authorities received calls about a shooting victim located at 1200 SW 11th Way. Upon arrival, deputies and Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue discovered Abernathy lying in a parking lot with multiple gunshot wounds. Sadly, he was pronounced dead at Broward Health North Hospital soon after.

In the wake of this incident, BSO’s homicide unit quickly sprang into action to piece together the details surrounding Abernathy’s death.
