Community Honors Family Pillar Anne Frances Goodwin

Anne, who was born on January 21, 1942, in Southern California, was known for her strong family values, unwavering faith, and steadfast support for youth sports. She leaves behind a legacy that spans multiple generations and geographical locations.

Anne was the eldest of eight children, nurturing a deep sense of family from an early age. She met her late husband, Gordon Goodwin, at Edwards Air Force Base, where their love story began. The couple raised a vibrant family of eight children in Chelmsford, Massachusetts, where Anne became a pillar of support for not only her family but also the community.

Sadly, Anne was preceded in death by her beloved son, Michael, and her son-in-law, Jon. She is survived by her seven other children: Lorraine (and her partner Jim), Brian, Scott (and his wife Cathleen), Lucy, Andy, Joseph (and his wife Giana), and Charlie (and his wife Alicia). In addition to her children, Anne was a proud grandmother to fifteen grandchildren: Benjamin, Sam, Jacob, Joshua, Nathan, Zachary, Colter, Riley, Bailey, Oliver, Michael Gordon, Sabella, Alden, Bruno, and Graham Rose.

Her family network extended across Southern California, Massachusetts, and Florida, with Anne often touching the lives of many through her kindness and support. Anne’s siblings include Mary, Charlie (and his wife Connie), Lucy, Monica, and Patrice (and her husband Michael). She was preceded in death by her brother Danny and sister Cathy.

In her lifetime, Anne embodied strong Christian values and identified as a proud conservative. She demonstrated her commitment to her beliefs through active participation in church and community events. A passionate sports enthusiast, Anne supported her children’s athletic endeavors in various capacities, notably through Chelmsford Pop Warner and high school football, as well as college sports.

Anne’s love for cooking was also noteworthy, as she often prepared meals for her large family and friends, fostering cherished moments around the dinner table. Her culinary skills and vibrant family gatherings created lasting memories that will endure beyond her years. In addition, she had a profound affection for animals, particularly her beloved dachshund, Tessie, who brought her much joy.

Throughout her life, Anne enjoyed simple pleasures such as sunshine, flowers, jewelry, and summer vacations in Cape Cod. In her final years, she embraced the warmth of St. Petersburg, Florida, finding peace in the beautiful sunsets that graced her solitary moments. Her life was filled with love, laughter, and the legacy of strong family ties.

A memorial service to honor Anne Frances Goodwin will take place in the summer of 2025 in California at Redwood National Park, where she will be returned to her beloved home state. The service will provide an opportunity for friends and family to come together, reflecting on her life and the meaningful impact she had on those around her.
