St. Petersburg, Florida

The Dalí Museum in St. Petersburg is set to unveil a diverse lineup of events and programs throughout May 2025, aimed at celebrating art, wellness, and the birthday of the iconic surrealist artist Salvador Dalí. Notable events include an exponential celebration of Dalí’s contributions to the art world and a variety of community-focused activities.

One of the highlighted exhibitions is “Little Joe,” a captivating piece by Steven Benevides, which will be on display at the Tarpon Art Gallery throughout May. Additionally, visitors can experience an immersive Pink Floyd show, titled “Pink Floyd: The Dark Side of the Moon,” at the museum’s Dalí Dome. Showings are scheduled for select nights on May 8, 9, 10, 15, 16, 17, 22, 24, 29, and 31, featuring varying showtimes for attendees to enjoy.

The museum’s ongoing “Poetry at The Dalí” series will continue with a session set for May 8 at 6 p.m., led by former poet laureate Helen Pruitt Wallace. This event provides a platform for poetry enthusiasts to engage in the artistic atmosphere of the museum.

On May 11, the museum will celebrate Salvador Dalí’s birthday with a special promotion offering a 40% discount on gallery admission, reducing the entry fee to $19.04. This offer reflects the museum’s intent to make art accessible to a wider audience.

The “Surreal Nights” event will occur on May 15 at 5 p.m., showcasing live entertainment along with a specially crafted surreal cocktail, combined with reduced gallery admission to attract art lovers and casual visitors alike.

Another wellness initiative, yoga sessions led by Lucky Cat Yoga, is scheduled for May 18 at 9 a.m. These sessions present a unique opportunity for visitors to experience tranquility within the artistic setting of the Dalí Museum.

A film screening of “Dalí’s Dream” is planned for May 20 at 6 p.m., based on the award-winning play by Lisa Monde. This film is expected to captivate audiences and spark discussions surrounding Dalí’s dreamlike influence on art and culture.

On May 27 at 6 p.m., the museum will feature a performance and discussion titled “Radiant Child”, focusing on the importance of preserving artistic legacies for future generations. This engagement emphasizes the museum’s commitment to educating the community about art’s role in society.

The Dalí Museum is currently displaying three special exhibitions: “Dalí Alive 360”, “The Subversive Eye”, and “Outside In.” Each exhibition offers unique insights into Dalí’s life and artistic expression, further enriching the visitor experience.

From May 17 through September 1, the museum will extend its benefits to active-duty military personnel, offering free gallery admission for them and their immediate family members, in alignment with the Blue Star Museums program. This initiative intends to honor and support military families by providing cultural experiences.

As part of the wider art community events, the Dunedin Fine Art Center is hosting “Trashy Treasures”, an art and community celebration on May 16 and 17. This event will include a silent auction, live music, and an art garage sale, promoting local talents and community engagement.

Additionally, the Gallery at Creative Pinellas is showcasing “iBOMS: iMAGiNE NATiON,” an extended exhibition running through August 10, which explores the concept of imagination through various mixed media.

A reception for the exhibit “Playing” will occur on May 18 at the Studio 1212 Art Gallery in Dunedin from 1 to 4 p.m., showcasing works from local artists inspired by the city, further enriching the regional art scene.

Upcoming in the music scene, Metallica’s M72 tour will stop in Tampa on June 6 and 8, with an additional “Metallica Takeover” event planned for June 7, featuring a host of activities centered around the legendary band.
