ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — Pinellas County opened in-person early voting Monday for the Nov. 3 general election, and St. Petersburg voters can use any of seven early sites spread around the county over the next two weeks.

Besides a location in St. Petersburg, early sites are set up in Largo, Gulfport, Clearwater and Palm Harbor. Pinellas sites keep the same schedule every day, opening at 7 in the morning and closing at 7 at night, with the last early voting day falling on Nov. 1.

Voters do not have to show up at their usual neighborhood precinct during this period. Any early site in Pinellas will take a registered county voter, though early sites are not always the same buildings used as polling places on Election Day itself.

Bring identification. Florida requires a photo ID that also carries a signature, and a voter whose photo ID lacks a signature must show a second card that has one. Someone without ID can cast a provisional ballot that election officials review later.

The cutoff to ask for a ballot by mail is Thursday, Oct. 22, at 5 p.m. Mail ballots can also be turned in at early voting sites. Completed ballots must arrive at the county elections office before polls close at 7 p.m. on Nov. 3, and mailing one on time does not count if it shows up late.

Contests on the ballot include the governor’s race, a U.S. Senate seat and Amendment 3. On Election Day, polls statewide are open 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., and voters must go to their assigned precinct. Across the bay, Hillsborough County is running 27 early sites on the same daily schedule, while Pasco offers a dozen that close a day earlier, on Oct. 31.
